New Jewar Airport is Ready to Fly

India is about to see a massive change in how people travel. The much-awaited Noida International Airport in Jewar is completely ready for its big launch. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open this giant airport on March 28, 2026. This is a very proud moment for the country. The new airport will make flying much easier for millions of people. It is located in Uttar Pradesh and it is only 75 kilometers away from Delhi. This short distance means people from the capital city can easily reach the new airport to catch their flights.

The main reason to build this airport was to reduce the heavy traffic at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The Delhi airport is always very crowded. Now people living in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and western Uttar Pradesh will have a brand new option closer to their homes. The airport has received all the important safety approvals from the government. The flying regulators have given the final green signal for commercial planes to start taking off safely.

The size of this project is truly amazing. If we look at the numbers, we can see how huge this airport is going to be. The government has spent a lot of money to make this dream come true. For the first part of the project, workers built the airport on 1,334 hectares of land. The authorities spent about Rs 5,000 crore just to buy this land. They then spent another Rs 7,000 crore to build the amazing terminal building and the smooth runway. The total planned budget for the entire mega project is a whopping Rs 29,650 crore.

In the very first phase, the airport will be able to handle 12 million passengers every single year. That is a very large number of travelers. To move all these people, the airport will operate about 150 flights every single day. A huge runway that is 3,900 meters long is completely ready for big airplanes. Ten special boarding bridges are also ready so passengers can walk straight into their planes without waiting outside. Famous airlines like IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express have already confirmed that they will fly from Jewar. They will start by flying to big cities in India. Later on, they will also start flights to other countries. Akasa Air is even setting up a special facility at the airport to repair and maintain airplanes.

This new airport is not just about airplanes. It is also about giving a huge boost to the local economy. Experts say, the Jewar airport will create nearly 1 lakh new jobs for the people. This is a great chance for young people to find good work near their homes. They can work in airlines, shops, hotels and transport services. The government also expects to earn around Rs 1 lakh crore in revenue from this project over the coming years.

The property market near the airport is already doing very well. Because of the new airport, many companies want to open their offices nearby. People also want to buy houses near the airport. This high demand has pushed up the prices of land and apartments in Noida and Greater Noida. Builders are starting new housing projects to give people good places to live. Reaching the new airport will be very easy for everyone. The government is building excellent roads to connect the airport to different cities. It is already located right next to the famous Yamuna Expressway. This wide highway connects Greater Noida to Agra. Another new 31-kilometer road is currently being built. This new road will directly connect the Jewar airport to the huge Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. In the future, there are also plans to bring fast metro trains and modern rail networks right to the airport gates.

We must also look at the bright future of this grand project. The opening in March 2026 is only the first step. The builders have a master plan to make it much bigger over the next few decades. Right now, it has only one runway. When the number of passengers crosses one crore the builders will start making a second runway. Slowly, they will add more terminal buildings and more runways. When the entire project is completely finished, the airport might have up to five or six runways. By that time, it will be able to handle an unbelievable 70 million passengers every year. Some reports even say it could grow to handle 300 million people by the year 2050.

The new Jewar airport is a perfect example of modern planning and fast teamwork. It will totally change the face of the region.
